Yamaha's Most Compact Dolby Atmos Soundbar Has a Built-In Subwoofer — and No Upgrade Path
Yamaha's new B200A is its smallest soundbar to support Dolby Atmos, and it arrives in November 2026 priced at $249.95. At just 23.5 inches (600mm) wide and 1.8kg, it's built for bedrooms, desk setups, and small living rooms where a full speaker system simply won't fit. The catch: it's a sealed ecosystem — no external subwoofer, no surround speakers, ever.
The hardware
Two 20-watt drivers handle the mid and high frequencies, while a built-in 30-watt subwoofer covers the low end, augmented by a Bass Extension mode. Dolby Atmos processing creates a sense of height and space without requiring ceiling speakers. Clear Voice sharpens dialogue — useful when voices get buried under action-movie sound design — and four preset modes (Movie, Standard, Stereo, Game) let you switch between use cases quickly.
Connectivity covers the basics: HDMI eARC/ARC, optical, 3.5mm AUX, and Bluetooth. That means it pairs with a TV, a PC monitor, or a gaming console without needing an adapter. The bar can sit on a TV unit or desk, or wall-mount using built-in keyhole slots.
The tradeoff
At $249.95, the B200A lands in a crowded sub-$300 compact Atmos bracket. The Sony HT-S2000 sits around $200 and supports an optional wireless subwoofer; systems from Samsung and JBL offer modular expansion too. Yamaha's all-in-one approach, as noted by ecoustics.com, means buyers who later want more bass or surround sound will need to replace the whole unit rather than add to it.
That limitation is a real consideration. If your needs are likely to grow — or if you're setting up a living room rather than a bedroom — a modular system may serve you better long-term. But if you want Atmos in a tight space without running cables to a separate subwoofer, the B200A makes a straightforward case for itself.
According to the Yamaha official press release, the B200A goes on sale in the US in November 2026. European pricing and availability have not been confirmed yet.
