Motorola Signature 27 teased with 200MP Sony camera and GrapheneOS support
Motorola has released a teaser video for the Signature 27, revealing a September 22 unveiling date and confirming several camera specs. The reveal lands on the same day Qualcomm is expected to announce its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro — a 2nm chip built by TSMC — making it likely the Signature 27 will be among the first phones to carry it.
The camera
The lens ring in Motorola's teaser spells out the key specs: 200MP, 100x Super Zoom, Dolby Vision, and LYTIA. That LYTIA branding points to Sony's flagship LYTIA 901 sensor — a 1/1.12-inch, 200-megapixel unit with a QQBC pixel array that enables 4x in-sensor zoom without a dedicated telephoto lens. The 100x figure likely combines that in-sensor zoom with a separate periscope telephoto and digital processing.

The design
Motorola is sticking with its textured-back aesthetic. The Signature 27's rear panel features a stitched texture pattern that suggests fabric or vegan leather rather than glass. Two Pantone color options have been shown so far: Coal Smoke (a dark charcoal) and Capulet Olive.

The security angle
The bigger story may be on the software side. Motorola announced a GrapheneOS partnership at MWC in March 2026, and the Signature 27 — known internally as "Wukong" per Notebookcheck — is the leading candidate to be the first non-Pixel device with official GrapheneOS support. Until now, Google's Pixel line has been the only mainstream phone GrapheneOS runs on officially. If Motorola follows through, privacy-conscious buyers get a second choice. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro also supports Memory Tagging Extension (MTE), a hardware-level security feature that catches memory vulnerabilities before they can be exploited.
What to expect
Motorola is expected to put the Signature 27 on sale in January 2027, though that date hasn't been confirmed. UK retailers like Currys, John Lewis, and Vodafone are unlikely to stock it before Q1 2027 at the earliest. Pricing hasn't been announced for any market.
The formal reveal happens September 22 — the same day the new Snapdragon chip drops — so a full spec sheet should land then.
