RTX 3070 Ti handles Ultra, but The Witcher 3 Remastered quietly raised its price
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered lands on September 29 as a free upgrade for everyone who already owns the game — across Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. CD Projekt Red has published full system requirements ahead of launch. The catch for anyone buying fresh: the Complete Edition on Steam quietly jumped from $39.99 to $49.99 in the weeks before release, per Games Radar.
The hardware bar
Windows 11 is now mandatory across every tier — CD Projekt Red says all internal testing was done on Windows 11, though the studio stops short of saying Windows 10 will outright refuse to run it. The minimum GPU has jumped from a GTX 660 to a GTX 1660, which TechPowerUp links directly to NVIDIA ending Game Ready Driver support for Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GPUs — cards many players still use.
The six-tier requirement table covers everything from 1080p/30fps to 4K path tracing:
- Minimum (1080p/30fps, low): GTX 1660 / RX 5500 XT, i5-8400, 12 GB RAM - Recommended (1080p/60fps, high): RTX 2060 Super / RX 6600 XT, i7-8700K, 16 GB RAM - Ultra (1440p/60fps, ultra): RTX 3070 Ti / RX 6800 XT, i7-13700K, 24 GB RAM - Path Tracing / 4K (2160p/60fps with frame generation): RTX 5080, i9-13900K or Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 24 GB RAM
The RTX 5080 path-tracing tier is NVIDIA-exclusive and requires frame generation to hit 60fps at 4K, per VideoCardz. No consumer benchmarks exist yet to confirm real-world numbers. An SSD is required at every tier — 60 GB on Steam, 95 GB on Epic Games Store.

The pricing split
GOG is running a 50% discount simultaneously with launch, making it the cheaper entry point for new buyers. Xbox is reportedly offering the game at 81% off. If you already own the game anywhere, you pay nothing — both prior DLC expansions are now included in the base edition at no extra cost. The Steam price hike appears to be a Steam-specific margin move; CD Projekt Red hasn't explained the reasoning publicly.
The remaster itself brings improved graphics, overhauled lighting, a reworked skill progression system for Geralt, a modernized UI, new monster behaviors, transmog, and — notably — the dynamic day-night meditation sequence that appeared in the 2013 reveal trailer but never made it into the original release.
