Honor's new hair dryer packs 4 billion ions and a self-cleaning trick — but not for Western buyers
Honor has launched a high-spec hair dryer in China that matches the power output of Western premium models at a fraction of the price — though anyone outside China will have to look elsewhere. The Honor Life High-Speed Hair Dryer 2 Pro went on sale for 359 CNY (roughly $50), with a promotional launch price of 339 CNY. It comes in blue and pink.
The specs
The dryer runs a brushless motor at 110,000 RPM and delivers 1,600W of power — a meaningful step up from the previous Honor model in the lineup, which topped out at 1,100W. Airflow reaches 65 m/s and noise stays at 66 dB. The whole unit weighs 354g, lighter than Xiaomi's comparable Mijia Pro at 380g.
For frizz control, Honor claims the dryer generates 4 billion plasma ions — up 264% from its predecessor. Ion-count marketing has become standard in the Asian hair-tech segment; Xiaomi's Mijia High-Speed Water Ion Hair Dryer Pro makes near-identical claims and uses the same TOF sensor approach for real-time temperature monitoring. Honor's model checks distance and adjusts heat automatically, with five operation modes: intelligent temperature detection, child mode, constant temperature, smoothing, and alternating hot/cold air.

Smart touches
A hand-position sensor on the grip puts the dryer into standby the moment you set it down — no button press needed. The color display shows the active mode and temperature. Most practically: a single button triggers a reverse-airflow self-cleaning cycle that pushes dust and lint out of the internal channel. The included magnetic nozzle rotates 360°.

The Western picture
If you're in the US or UK, the Honor Life 2 Pro isn't coming to a shelf near you. Major retailers — Amazon, Currys, John Lewis — carry no Honor hair appliance listings. The brand's EU footprint in this category is limited to the older Honor Choice model (1,100W) in some Nordic markets. Meanwhile, Honor's MagicOS 11 rollout and the Honor X9e Pro confirm the brand is still cautious about which products cross the Chinese market boundary.
For Western consumers, the 1,600W bracket means Dyson Supersonic territory ($430–500) or Shark SpeedStyle ($200–250) — both roughly 8–10× the price of this Honor model at Chinese retail. The technology gap is closing fast in Asia. The distribution gap is not.
