Samsung's Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ land October 7 at £1,199 and up
Samsung's new flagship tablets, the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra, go on sale October 7, and the entry price is steep. UK pricing starts at £1,199 for the S12+ and £1,399 for the Ultra, according to SamMobile. The regular Tab S12 is gone, so there is no cheaper model in the range. Anyone planning to replace an older Galaxy tablet this autumn should budget accordingly.
The hardware
The Ultra is 5.1 mm thick, the thinnest tablet Samsung has made. The S12+ measures 5.3 mm. The Ultra has a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen and the S12+ a 12.6-inch one. Both reach 1,600 nits of peak brightness, and both are rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.
Inside is MediaTek's Dimensity 9500, a 3nm chip (a measure of how small its transistors are). Samsung claims gains of 19% for the processor, 17% for graphics and 61% for AI tasks over last year. Those are vendor figures, and independent tests haven't appeared yet.
Memory starts at 12GB with 256GB or 512GB of storage. The Ultra adds a 16GB, 1TB configuration. Both take microSD cards up to 2TB.
Samsung rates battery life at up to 23 hours for the Ultra and 21 hours for the S12+. Charging runs at 45W, for a full charge in about 95 minutes. Cameras are unchanged: 12MP at the front, 13MP at the back, plus an 8MP ultrawide on the Ultra.
Software and support
The tablets ship with Android 17 and One UI 9, and they include the S Pen stylus. The optional Pro Keyboard gains a dedicated Galaxy AI key. AI tools cover note summaries and a Samsung browser tied to Google's Gemini assistant. Samsung promises seven years of OS and security updates.
The price
The euro prices, which come from leaks rather than Samsung, are €1,299 for the S12+ and €1,539 for the Ultra. 5G versions add €200. That matches the rise we flagged when Samsung dropped the base model. The chip swap was also covered in our earlier look at the launch date.
The design is close to the last generation, as our first look at the pair noted. The main changes are the thinner body, the new chip and the longer battery claims. Samsung hasn't yet confirmed US pricing or rollout details, and it says regional availability may vary after October 7. Battery and performance claims are worth checking against independent reviews before you buy.
