GTA VI's Lucia gets a magazine spotlight, and the issue sold out fast
If you're waiting for more GTA VI details before November 19, a French fashion magazine is the next place they're coming from. Love Magazine's Issue 27, out October 5, carries an interview with Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson and four new screenshots. It costs €25 (about $27), and Beebom reports pre-orders sold out within minutes.
The story
The interview focuses on the two leads, Lucia and Jason. Vice describes Lucia as the series' first female lead with her own voice and backstory. Rockstar's writers call her extremely driven and willing to do anything for her dream. Jason comes across as the passive one, used to going with the flow and reacting to events.
Their goal isn't to get rich. According to the developers' quotes, they want out of poverty. That fits a game set in the state of Leonida and its Vice City, which Rockstar frames as a look at the modern American Dream.
Nelson says he hopes players will "get lost" in these characters and worlds. He also argues that a game version of today's world has to be bigger, crazier and more explicit than the real one. Otherwise, he says, you could just walk outside.
The rating
That bluntness matches the game's age rating. GTA VI is rated M (Mature) by the ESRB and 18 by PEGI, as we covered in the M-rating story. GoSuGamers notes that Australian and New Zealand store pages list "sex scenes" outright. US and UK listings use "Strong Sexual Content" instead.
Getting a copy
The magazine is a French title, and the sell-out came through its French distributor. Whether copies will reach US or UK shops is unconfirmed. Orders outside France appeared to run through international checkout options, and those are gone for now.
Most players won't miss much. Rockstar usually releases its biggest details through trailers and its own channels, and magazine interviews tend to get picked apart online within hours. Expect the quotes and screenshots to circulate widely once the issue ships.
Game Informer's earlier cover story already covered the bigger map and hurricanes. Love Magazine adds the human side. Rockstar has now shown the world and the leads. The next question is how the story plays out when the game arrives in just over a month.
