Xiaomi Mijia Wireless Hair Straightener 2: 70-Minute Battery Life and USB-C Charging Revolutionize Haircare
Xiaomi released the second generation of its wireless hair straightener — Mijia Wireless Hair Straightener 2. The device received a notable battery upgrade, a modern charging port, and an ionization system, which, according to the manufacturer, should tame static electricity.
More energy, fewer wires
The main change in the new product concerns autonomy. The battery capacity has increased by 56% compared to the first model, allowing the device to work up to 70 minutes without recharging. For comparison: the premium competitor Dyson Corrale provides only up to 30 minutes of operation in wireless mode. This is an interesting progress, considering how the geography of production and the ambitions of Chinese brands have changed over the past decades.
The straightener charges via USB-C (5 V, 3 A). This means that you can recharge not only from an outlet but also from a regular power bank — convenient for those who are used to grooming on the go. By the way, Xiaomi is actively switching all its small gadgets to this standard: recently, the company introduced smart scales with USB-C, completely saying goodbye to AAA batteries.
Smart heating and ionization
Instead of traditional ceramic elements, the Mijia Wireless Hair Straightener 2 used a PI heating film. The user has three temperature modes: 160, 180, and 200 °C. To prevent hair from overheating, the NTC controller keeps the temperature stable, performing up to 500 measurements per second. Current parameters and charge level are displayed on the built-in display.
The construction has also been updated: now there are 52 teeth and an ionization system that generates 37 million ions (18 million positive and 19 million negative). It looks like number magic from marketers, but in practice, it should facilitate styling and reduce frizz.
Safety and dimensions
The device's body has double thermal insulation to prevent the owner from burning their fingers during operation. For travelers, there is a mechanical lock that prevents the straightener from accidentally turning on in a bag. The device weighs 330 g, and its dimensions are 207 × 47 × 47 mm.
Xiaomi Mijia Wireless Hair Straightener 2 is available in gold and purple. In addition to the device itself, a USB cable and a storage case are included. The price of the new product is $45 (about 2000 UAH).
